Admission Details into the Three- Two Engineering
I don't have a separate application process for my program, but the chair of the program has advised me to have all of my pre- calculus requirements. In the end I have this done because I have taken calculus in high school.
Program Details: Three- Two Engineering Program
In this program, I will be studying general education requirements for an engineering degree. After taking these classes, like physics and calculus, I will transfer to a bigger university like UK in order to finish out my engineering degree.
1) Classes needed:
2) The Chairmen who is in charge of engineering is named Anthony Blose. He is also a professor in the physics department and teaches the classes "Concepts of Physical World" (PHY 101) and "University Physics 1" (PHY 201)
3) As far as professors go, I have taken a look at three in the department on the website "Rate My Professor:
My first choice, as far as dorms go, was Sullivan. It is one of the cheapest dorms on campus being $2050 a semester. The dorm was also located in between the science building and the Powell center. This dorm was conveniently placed since it was not only cheapest, but it was in the middle of all of the main places I would need to go as far as classes and eating goes.
College Visit Narrative
For starters, I entered the college with a bit of nostalgia because I have two siblings that already go to the college. The first location that I went to was the Powell Center. I felt this would be a good start since it is where I would spend a lot of my time aside from my dorm room and my class buildings. Whenever I went upstairs to Powell's dining area before the tour that I have photos of down below, I was impressed to see so many dining choices. Everything thing from grilled food to sub sandwiches, I was loving my time there. I did not eat the food the day I went, but I had eaten there previously and it was not really that bad. After this, I went to the new science building. This was a good location to visit since it was where I was going to have a lot of my classes for engineering. I did not get to see any classrooms, but close up I saw all of the engravings of planets they had in the sidewalk outside of the building, and I felt right at home. After this, I went to see my dorm of interest "Sullivan". It is a lot smaller than I had imagined and wasn't able to house as many people as I thought. I didn't get to go inside, but it gave off a very homey feel. After this, went to EKU's library. The library was huge on the outside and even larger on the inside. Everything from bookcases, to study rooms, to silence made me feel like I was going to do a lot of homework in that building. I can apparently even reserve rooms if I want to have a group to work with in the library. Once the library was done, I went to the on campus observatory. It looked like it was no longer in service, but being a space nerd, I couldn't resist seeing it up close. Finally, I went to the main stadium that the school had. I am not that big on sports, but I know that I have to have a class in that building for health education for my general ed. requirements. The stadium was huge, but it was not that daunting because it was something that while it may look big on the outside, it could be small on the inside. After standing and seeing the stadium, I headed out. From the visit, I learned that although the campus is large, I can still find my way around through memorizing everything. This visit made more excited for college rather than scared of it.

In this program, I will be studying general education requirements for an engineering degree. After taking these classes, like physics and calculus, I will transfer to a bigger university like UK in order to finish out my engineering degree.
1) Classes needed:
- Math: Calculus 1, 2, and 3 and Differential Equations
- Chemistry: General Chemistry 1 and 2 with labs
- Physics Courses: University Physics 1 and 2, Statios, Modern Physics, Theoretical Methods in Physics, Introductory Electrical Circuits, Thermodynamics, Advanced Physics Laboratory, and Classical Mechanics
- General Eds: Art, Humanities, Diversity, English 1A and 1B, Communication and Historical Perspective, Freshman Orientation
- Chaoyuan Liu is a mathematics professor who teaches calculus one and three. Given how the most recent rating viewed her, I have concerns. She is said to teach curriculum incorrectly and speeds through it. She also was given the lowest rating possible on "Rate My Professor" when being rated for a Calculus 1 Class. Although she may be a poor professor, I am hoping that my natural talents in math will be able to serve me well.
- Rodney Piercey is a physics professor that teaches University Physics Two. According to his rating on "Rate My Professor" his class has hard curriculum, but he is passionate about helping his students the best that he can. He is a professor that I would enjoy having because no matter how hard something is, I am able to understand it with the right help.
- Jerome May is a chemistry professor who teaches General Chemistry one and two. According to the most recent rating, he is a professor with the expectation of truly listening to his lectures. His tests are difficult, but he is said to be one of the easiest chemistry professors to understand. No matter how hard the curriculum is to me, it is always the most important thing, to me, to have a teacher you can understand. Chemistry is my weakest science so hopefully May can help me understand it better if I have him.
- When it comes to a full time student, the tuition at EKU is $4,075 per semester. This is the tuition estimate given I am an in-state resident of Kentucky.
- When it comes to Martin, the dorm that I have reserved, the rate for the dorm is $2,060 per semester. This is the value given for people who plan to have a roommate living with them.
- My meal plan will be the cheapest meal plan that a residential student can have. This is a plan with 100 block meals and 375 dining dollars. This meal plan costs $1,195.
- I have the KEES money that I will gain from high school classes. With a 4.0 GPA and a 26 on the ACT, my KEES money will amount to about $2,428 per year that I attend a university.
- Another grant that I am guaranteed is the Residential Scholarship that I was awarded from EKU. This scholarship gives me $6,000 per year that I attend EKU. In order to keep this scholarship, I will have to maintain a 3.0 GPA at EKU, while I attend there, and in order to receive the scholarship, I had to have had a 3.75 GPA throughout high school, and have needed at least a 25 on the ACT. This is the second tier of the scholarships that EKU gives to entering students.
- Lastly, while this is not a grant, it will still be put towards my college expenses. I have been granted a work study at EKU. I have not applied for a job on campus yet, but I plan to do so by the middle of June.
- My orientation is on May 29 at EKU and I plan to do all of my class sign ups there.
- There is no listed deadline for the work study application, but I plan to apply by the middle of June.
- I need to sign up for my meal plan by the middle of June
- The deadline for scholarships is April 15
- First Priority Application for the college is due February 15
- The only program that can be considered extracurricular in my case is my work study program.
- My participation in the program was based upon my need for financial aid.
- As far as time goes, I will need to work from 10 to 20 hours a week. My hours and times that I work will depend upon when my classes are.
- In the middle of May, I plan to contact the Work Study Aid Office in Richmond on EKU's main campus. This is where my financial advisory will be. While I have not made contact with them yet, I will in the middle of May to find out my best opportunities in work study.

Photographic Narritive
The arrival to Eastern Kentucky University. With the sign having a sideways U for some reason.
I decided to start the tour by first going to EKU's Powell Center. I wanted to go here because this is where I am going to do my eating on campus.
This is EKU's science building. This is where I am going to have a lot of my classes since I am going into Pre- Engineering here. In other words, I am going to take a lot of classes like Physics and Chemistry. A lot of science things basically.
Sullivan is my first choice when it comes to dorms. Not only has the dorm apparently been refurbished recently, but it is also one of the cheapest dorms and is in the middle of Powell and the science building.
This is EKU's library. I have not seen a lot of the inside, but they have rooms in there that you can reserve for groups to study in. It seems like a great place to be able to concentrate and work.
This is an old observatory on campus. It looks like its out of service but I love space so I couldn't resist seeing it up close.
This the stadium on campus where not only sports happen, but I believe physical education classes happen here as well. I hate physical ed. but it is a required class. I'll have to live through it but I will do well.
